Pet Peeve Post #1

So last night I went to the movies with the rents and saw True Grit. I must say, I immediately fell in love with the main character Mattie Ross (played by Hailee Steinfield).

About 5 minutes before the movie starts, this couple comes in, laughing really loudly, and awkwardly moving around a lot. I assumed they were drunk, but tried to ignore it. The movie starts and I'm trying to zone into it as I hear loud popcorn bags going "CHHHRHRKKK SSSHHHHKK FFFFHHKKKSSKKK". *pause* "CHRK!"
May I say.. It is NOT that hard to get popcorn quietly. The movie continues and I'm being introduced to the characters, when suddenly "crreeee sshhkk ffft". Someone trying to open a wrapper quietly, by doing it slowly. Do it all in ONE QUICK MOTION and it won't make so much DAMN NOISE.
Finally I am able to tune out the wrappers and what-not and get into the movie. It's really good, I'm loving it, until this drunken couple starts talking. And not like whispers and giggles, no, of course not. They are just talking, and at that loud volume when you are drunk. Who comes to the movies drunk?? What's the point?! You won't remember it!
So finally they shut up, about 30 minutes into the movie, and I enjoy the rest of it quite nicely.
True Grit was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, and I can see why. It was adventurous, suspenseful, heart-warming, heart-breaking, and even funny. I can recall atleast five parts where I was literally laughing out loud!
Jeff Bridges was flipping AWESOME as Cogburn.

I really recommend the movie, it comes out on DVD on June 7th, and that it definitely more preferable than that dang theatre.
Basically, theatres are like rollercoasters. Before you get on you're like, "Awwwhh yeah, awesome!". Then halfway through you're thinking "Wow, this was a stupid idea." Then at the end you think, "Nevermind, that was pretty legit."
